Figues - Apple Bananas from Haiti - Also called Cavendish bananas

In Haiti, all bananas are called "figues". This type of banana is called Latundan bananas, silk bananas or apple bananas.

Apple bananas are available year-round. Perhaps that's why they are so popular on the market place.

These banana fruits are round-tipped with thin yellow skin that splits once fully ripe. They are smaller than the Lacatan bananas (what Haitians call Banane Figue) and the commercially dominant Cavendish bananas, what Haitians call "Figues Francs".

These Latundan bananas have a slightly acidic, apple-like flavor.
