Juan Diaz deserves the sentence for his transgressions.

Having said that, we must all realize that the bigger problem is the willingness of Haitian officials to accept bribes in the first place.

Don't believe me?

Try comparing Haiti's high rates with those of the Dominican Republic.

A simple eye opener.

For additional information, listen (in creole) to my radio broadcast warning on Radio Tropicale on Saturday, January 9, 2010, just 3 days before the catastrophe.

Also, see this wonderful video on the catastrophic effects of corruption.

The speaker in the video is Huguette Labelle, the Chairwoman of Transparency International.
