Clearly we have a major problem in our country if in fact our government cannot allocate 1,500 acres of land to build shelter for its traumatized population following the devastating earthquake.

On the other hand, I am not surprised, since in Haiti everything can be sold as long as someone highly placed puts a price on it. In other words, even the land that was supposed to be set aside for public and common use is most likely in the hands of private hands.

Alas! the only way out of this dillema is for the skeletal government to designate which land it wants to use and take it over with a fair restitution in the name of Public Domain; every government has these types of prerogatives.

No matter how one slices it the mass of the people of Haiti continues to be the victims of the very people whose job it is to defend it.
