I've been visiting Haiti every year since I was deployed there for Operation Uphold Democracy.

I have since started an educational foundation, the Soleil Foundation.

It has a school with over 150 kids and over 12 orphns.

I've found that the Haitian people are like no other people.

They have talent, charm and and believe in their country.

The main area of concern with this country, in my opinion, is with the government.

I've seen many dollars flow into Haiti for the purposes of building infrastructure, education and feeding the people.

I know that much of this aid never goes to its intended purpose.

Rather, it flows into the pockets of the "Grand Manje", or the big politicians.

We need more checks and balances with respect to this problem.

And we need a government who is more concerned about their country, and less concerned about their quality of life.

I know Haiti can be a great place.

After all, it has a great start.

Its people.
