Dear "Young" man:

"Haiti-a Pap Jan-m Bon!" is the word I usually hear from the mouths of old Haitian people living in the states.

They can say it, they're old, and they lost hope for Haiti the day 'they chose to leave her and run to a better haven'.

To the new generation of Haitians living outside of Haiti:

To all of you young Haitians in the Diaspora, whose hair is not yet gray, listen up!

Do not let the old people discourage you, do not let them stop you from coming home, do not listen to them, they are scared, they are institutionalized, these old Haitian folks are incorporated into a structured and well-established system.

They are so used to that paycheck every Friday that disappears by Saturday morning, they will never leave.

They are stuck in the American dream, a house owned by the bank with your name on it that you spend your entire life paying for, and a car that needs to be replaced as soon as you make the last payment.

Haiti is starting to fall in the hands of young men and women, men and women with dreams, men and women who are brave, men and women who have not seen dictatorships in 20 years, men and women who are in touch with the world online or offline..."

I am glad that you are one of the very few "young" men who share these irresponsible thoughts.

I even feel better that the last paragraph above is incorrect.

BTW, I would like to read your description of "Old People," if you would be kind enough to oblige.

Thanks,

J.R
