I felt such an overwhelming sense of empathy while reading this novel.

It's a reminder of how deceitful Haitian men are. The heroine was fortunate to have protected herself against STD's or even worse...pregnancy.

The only thing that puzzled me was the chronological order of events.

I would have liked to understand how all these things happened in such a short time span of two months.

Also why would the heroine let the antagonist be close to her children when she clearly saw how the little boy was fearful of him in the beginning?

Hopefully this was just something to sensationalize the book and was not an actual occurrence?
