I am not a Haitian business owner, but I am a retired executive from the ONG world.

You should not assume that people do not want to talk, you should create an environment where that can happen.

Either by joining groups such as Rotary International or other such formal groups where your competitors will get to know you. Remember that trust and friendship are build over time.
