Thank you for schooling us younger generations what our parents have failed to teach us. Many of us within the younger generation do not know the true meaning of the soup joumou and for that reason does not care to drink (eat) it. I have had my share of soup joumou faithfully every new year simply for its great taste.

I was not aware of its true meaning until now and I am thankful for this information.
