Woodring,

Thank you for taking your precious time to communicate your personal views with us as a brother, a Haitian and you have done so with very good leadership skills.

I will take a very good look at myself for the new year and immediately make some drastic changes...One of my contributions that I have partake in our community Woodring is trying to have some of us elected into political office however I feel sometimes that I am alone because I really think that we are not ready to have some political power because of our ignorance and we are not use to it yet!

I have done the best that I know however sometimes my best is not good enough especially when I am not getting the cooperation for our brothers and sisters...We have a tendency to want the easy way out but we are not willing to pay the price.

Let me give you an example, for about eight years I have devoted thousand of hours, leaving my home and my family participating and trying to have some of us elected to office this is what I like doing, and this is what I enjoy.

But the problem that I have I hardly get any help when I am in the trenches running campaigns not one is available but you will see some of us that have not done anything but they are brave enough to tell everyone that they want to become candidates.

What I am trying to say is simply this, the work has to be done first before you can come and say you want to be a leader.

What have you done?

I know all of you but you are not willing to pay the price but you want to lead a community! What have you done?

Talk to me. I have been in this community for thirty six (36) years I know what is going on but you thought I was just talking for the sake of talking; you thought I was wasting your time, because you don't like to hear the truth! Most of you just want personal glory; you know you don't care about the community.

If you did you will have already join me in some of those campaigns I have participated during the last eight years (8).

This coming New Year we are going to have some very big campaigns in our community and I will still be here watching you. Just like always complaining, feeling sorry for your damn self like you don't know you in the hell you are....Don't you know who you are?

You came from the first BLACK REPUBLIC! You have some of the greatest achievements in the Western World.

This is the reason we are not like. Don't you get it! Our history is second to none. Don'ts you ever forget it. May the good Lord Bless our beloved homeland and have a happy new year. I will see you in the battle field were our jobs is to get HAITIANS elected to political office because you out to be ready because we will lead in the next twenty years and the next generation will have to take over from were we left....Thank you.

Joe Gourgue,
First Vice Chair Hapac
