MINUSTAH soldiers did not go to Haiti for the specific purpose of spreading cholera.

The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) went to that Caribbean country to restore a secure and stable environment, to promote the political process, to strengthen Haiti's Government institutions and rule-of-law-structures, as well as to promote and to protect human rights.

Now Haitians have file suit against UN over the cholera epidemic and they are putting all blames on the UN and MINUSTAH.

Yes, the UN should have vetted those soldiers before deploying them to Haiti, but Haitians officials are also to blame for allowing a large number of foreigners into their country without any kind of oversight.

Haiti is also to blame for not having infrastructures and manpower in place to execute those oversights.

Few international organizations will dare to deploy peacekeepers and aid workers to Haiti, knowing that they could be the target of frivolous lawsuits from Haitians that are looking for a big pay day.

I guess it is true what they say, "No good deed goes unpunished".
