It doesn't matter how far inland you go, you still will not find the services you mention in Haiti ...not yet. Some few things are changing.

Yay.
The corruption at the border is the greatest obstacle to land-crossing tourists, and a Dominican vehicle is socked with $60 US/month for a ridiculous "insurance" policy.

Clean up the border, then you can work on the tourism draws.
