I must attest to the fact this current government in Haiti is the most progressive in recent memory anyone can remember.

We can all agree that it's simply untrue that Haiti is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere.

What is true, however, is that historically we haven't had a government that has made it its job to work for the development of the island with a focus on the well-being of the people it's supposed to represent.

What is true is that our past leaders failed miserably to muster the courage to lead a desperate people.

While I personally have no specific proof of which natural resources we have in the country, every preliminary test points to a great number of them.

Like all other island nations, tourism must be one of our primary focuses and this government has put forth the effort to bring that back to the country.

As a Haitian, I'm hopeful that succeeding administrations will be comprised of people of good conscience, will lead with integrity, but above all, will lead with a penchant of practical nationalism, bent on taking their island nation from point A to point B. Only then will Haiti truly be on a trend to quantitative progress.
