Great point and nice article in French.
I never heard of Brevard County.
Where is it exactly?
Closer to West Palm?
I have been living in the Athens of America for 40 years and it is the same problem.
Haitian/Black children, youth, and parents are not getting the resources they need to succeed.
They need the professionals, the stakeholders who have experience and supposedly "know better".
Many parents can not read or write either.
I have written a lot on Haitian forums and local papers about us developing a leadership to help doing outreach to the Haitian/Black community.
My ideas and suggestions go to deaf ears because Black folks, not only Haitians in my area are not speaking with each other.
The few us who see that the community is not being served properly don't have that much voice.
Therefore, there is a strong need for professionals, faith leaders, pastors, church workers, non profits, to communicate with each other and try to develop a working partnership with local government and other providers.
We could put our talents together to write grants too. We are losing our children because of our attitudes and self satisfaction as individuals who have acquired the basic needs; not as a collective group, contributing to the larger good, to society and looking at the future of the next generation.
