Don't pop the champagne bottle just yet! Dominicans are not going to compromise their national sovereignty in exchange for membership in CARICOM.

Nor are they going to allow CARICOM to meddle in their internal affairs.

Up until now, the Dominican Republic has managed to survive without CARICOM.
