OK, "Carnaval des fleurs" in itself is not a bad thing.

People get to dress up or down, dance in the streets with good music in an upbeat mood. The carnaval could be considered as a form of advertisement geared mainly to the Haitian Diaspora...

It takes money to make money.

Tourism has always been part of any country's economy, Why not Haiti's?

Let us hope that the Carnaval is not an end in itself but a means to an end. Carnaval is a shrewd way to advertise a country such as Haiti;Besides, the whole country can participate.

It is like the proverbial "killing two birds with one stone".

If the Martelly Administration can provide security, as they should reinforce and reiterate this point, then, Haiti can be in business for real.
The money spent for the carnaval should be seen as the cost of doing business.
