Joseph Phillippe Lemercier Laroche, his wife and daughters - The only interracial couple on board RMS Titanic

The only interracial couple on board RMS Titanic was Haitian engineer Joseph Phillippe Lemercier Laroche and his wife Juliette Lafargue. They were accompanied by their two daughters.

They made it. He did not.

Lemercier Laroche was the only black man to perish in the Titanic but he had a chance to save his family first.

Leonardo DiCaprio's role in the movie TITANIC could have easily been played by a Black man and it would have been historically accurate.

The story of this interracial family onboard RMS TItanic was not known until 2000, three years after the movie Titanic was released.
