What did the Haitian earthquake survivors expect to receive in the camps?

You often read articles on Haitian newspapers and online about how Haitian earthquake survivors are living now they have been forces out of the camps but there are some questions they never ask the victims: What did you own before the earthquake? How were you living before the earthquake?

We read about people who complain that the money they receive to leave the camps are not enough... but we never read about who they were, what where they were doing and how they were living before the earthquake.

Some questions are difficult to ask BUT... If I owned a property before the earthquake and my house collapsed and thank God I'm alive, I'd probably clear out the rubble and continue living on my property... Perhaps in a tent... But on my property...

I heard many stories about people who were expecting a FREE ticket to a middle class lifestyle... a typical "from rags to riches story"...

What do you think about that?
