Haiti-USA Visa Question : Does traveling to the Dominican Republic Increase your chances of getting a US Visa?

There are many Haitians in Haiti who believe that buying a Dominican visa and traveling to the Dominican Republic a few times will increase their chance of getting a visa to the United States... Is this true of false???

En Haiti, Yon VISA Americain se GWO Koze...

I do not personally know the answer to this question AND I would love to hear what a US embassy personnel has to say about it.

DOES traveling to the Dominican Republic first really increases your changes of getting a US Visa?

Here is what I am thinking: I don't notice many Dominicans traveling to Haiti first before they apply for Visa to the United States...

I wonder where Haitians got this idea that traveling to the Dominican Republic first will increases their changes of getting a US Visa?

What do you think about that?

To think: A Visa to the Dominican Republic sells for about $200 US in Haiti; each trip to the Dominican Republic will cost you at least $200 US.

Some Haitians travel to the Dominican Republic before applying for a US Visa why?

If what you really want is a trip to the United States, apply for a US visa and get it over

As a current Embassy Employee, I can honestly tell you that there is no specific guidelines on tourist visa issuance.

It is a one on one interview between the applicant and a Consular Officer.

As an applicant, your job is to prove to us that you have ties to Haiti that will convince of your intentions to return.

Does traveling to the Dominican Republic Increase your chances of getting a US Visa?

As another person said, "the USA Visa system works independently of any outside influence".

However, it might increase your chances if you are trying to ingratiate yourself with an American consul by proving that you did not overstayed your tourist/guest worker visa, did not commit any crime in a foreign country, did not became an economic burden on your host country, etc. By being a hard-working, law-abiding citizen in the DR you can set a good precedent that can be advantageous when applying for a US

False.

The USA Visa system works independently of any outside influence such as traveling to another country.

Your request must meet specific visa requirements of the US. It is a false notion to think
