Haiti-USA Visa Question : Does your Income Matter?

A Haitian women asked me this US VISA question: "I work at a bank and I've been thinking about applying for a US visa, but I was wondering whether or not my monthly 20,000 gourdes income is enough to qualify..."

En Haiti, Yon VISA Americain se GWO Koze...

I do not personally know the answer to this question AND I would love to hear what a US embassy personnel has to say about it.

I can understand where she is coming from though...

For many people in Haiti, it takes a lot of "Haitian gourdes" to come up with the $160.00 U.S. visa appointment fee, and she wants to know up front if her 20,000 gourdes income is an automatic REFU before dishes out the money.

If you are a U.S. Embassy personnel in Port-au-Prince, perhaps you can post an honest answer for me so I can share it with her.

QUESTION: When applying for a US Visa, does your income matter?

What do you think about that?
