According to our records, that makes Linda Dorcena Forry the second Haitian-American to be elected Senator in the United States, the first being Kwame Raoul who was appointed to the Illinois Senate in 2004 to fill the seat vacated by Barack Obama. Raoul was re-elected in November of 2010.
Linda Dorcena Forry grew up in Dorchester's Uphams Corner neighborhood, where her parents settled after emigrating to the United States from Haiti in the mid 1960s.
