KASSAV Singer Patrick Saint-Eloi Dead at 55

Patrick Saint-Eloi, the former lead singer of Kassav, died Saturday morning at 4am at the age of 52. He was battling cancer

Guadeloupe is in mourning, all the Zouk fans aroung the world are affected.

An entire generation of Haitian grew up to the sound of Zouk, introduced to Haiti by Kassav.

It's been nearly 30 years but almost every time you see a group of Haitian kids dancing on stage, they will most likely be dancing to Kassav's "Zouk La Sé Sel Médikaman Nou Ni"

Yep... Le gros Jacob (Jacob Devarieux), Jocelyne Beroard, Patrick Saint-Eloi, Georges Decimus, Jean-Claude Naimro, Jean-Philippe Marthely, KASSAV... They are as Haitian to my generation as Shoubou and Cubano...

Their music in engraved in our Haitian culture...

Whenever something happens to them, Millions of Haitians will feel the pain.

We love music... We love Zouk

Our condolences to the family and fans of Patrick Saint-Eloi.

Question:

Dja Paul,
