Savon Idole, Haitian women use it a lot... Why?

There is a skin whitening soap in Haiti called IDOLE, I notice that Haitian women of all shades and color are using it... Menm grimelle ap itilize IDOLE... Why is that?

I don't have a problem with the soap or the manufacturer, I am only trying to understand why certain products are so popular in Haiti.

W-ap blanshi? W-ap DOUKO?

Some Haitian women are so mean behind closed doors... I often hear Haitian women say "O... O... Ti Marie ap blanshi wi... Jislene ap DOUKO..." when referring to other women using this type of soap.

Assuming that some Haitian women are using this soap to "eclaircir" (lighten) their skin -- after all is says it right on the box Savon Eclaicissant -- I don't understand why lighter skin Haitian women are using it.

So my question is to the Haitian women out there:

Do you use IDOLE or do you know someone who does?

What is the main reason for using it?

Is it just a great product or is it simply used to make your skin lighter?

Well, that all depends.

Some men/women might use it for uneven skin tone or to lighten a blemish, I myself have used a similar product like idol for the reason above.

Others may use it for lightening the skin as indicated & for the skin to remain bright.

It's only soap, not bleaching
