Japanese company to build 12 new schools in Haiti, construction begins before school opens

Where will the money come from?

Japan made a $20 million donation to help support school infrastructure in Haiti, a note from the Haitian Ministry of Education said.

10 schools will be build in the Centre Department (Plateau Central Haiti) and the remaining 2 schools will be built in the Artibonite department.

This deal was signed by Makihara Takatomo, Director General of the international division of Tokura Corporation and Dr. Meniol Jeune, Director General of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training.

Here is the list of where these schools will be built:

• 1 school in Crête-Brûlée (commune of Mirebalais)
• 1 in Grand-Boucan (communal section of Mirebalais)
• 1 in Cabral (communal section of Thomonde)
• 1 in La Selle (communal section of Saut-d'Eau)
• 3 schools will be built in Juanaria (communal section of Hinche)
• 1 school in Marmont (communal section of Hinche)
• 2 schools in Aguahedionde (communal section of Hinche)
• 2 schools in Désarmes (communal section of Verrettes, Artibonite)

Construction of these schools are scheduled to begin before the opening of the academic year 2018-2019.
