Did Haitian Olympian Samyr Laine Solicit Funding from the Haitian Ministry of Sports?
Haitian Newspaper Le Nouvelliste published a letter from Olympian Samyr Laine solliciting the financial support of the Haitian Ministy of Sports.
According the letter, Samyr Laine is unable to pay his rent and for food with athletics as his full-time job.
"I will win a medal in Rio," Samyr writes according to Le Nouvelliste. "I like to represent our country and I know that with a little help I can make history and make everyone proud to be Haitian."
This letter which is now public has a strange twist attached to it...
Today, Haiti Press network released an article saying that the Haitian Ministry of Sports he never received such a letter from Samyr Laine in which he requested financial assistance to prepare the next national competitions.
The article says such a letter "never arrived in the inbox of Haitian Sports Minister Jean René Roosevelt."
