Martissant, once a peaceful community in southern part of Port-au-Prince Haiti has now been nicknamed "Carrefour de la Mort," meaning the crossroads of death, due to so many kidnappings and violent crimes taking place in the gang controlled area which paralyzes life in general from Port-au-Prince to all of south Haiti.

Every time a person gets through Martissant these days they make the sign of the cross (signe de la croix) for having gone through safely, journalist Pierre Renel Rene said during the news report on the Haiti radio caraibes FM.
The gangs of Grand Ravine and Village De Dieu own this plot of land and there's nothing the police or the government is or can do about it for some reason.
