"Many Haitians typically act like Haiti is not theirs," he said. "We have not been able to create a national bourgeoisie. No one wants to build anything in this country."

"It is a shame to see this happening," he said.

"Every time you buy something in the marketplace you have to be careful that it is not something made in the Dominican Republic."

"We give no importance to education," professor Honorat said speaking on a radio station in the Haitian capital.
