Fabnak is a Creole word of French origin. The original word is actually the acronym "FABNAC" meaning Fabrique Nationale De Chaussures.
Fabnac or Fabrique Nationale De Chaussures, was a company located in Rue Flemming on Route Route Nationale #1 in Chancerelles, Port au Prince, Haiti, back in the days.
The company was owned by Haitian industrialist Fritz Mevs. At one point in time, FABNAC had 10,000 employees according to Mevz's wife, Hugette Mevs, who called that era, "the golden age of the Haitian industry".
Growing up in Haiti, you probably heard the term "Boyo Mevs." Well they were manufactured by Fabnac.
