Beer Consumption in Haiti - How much beer do Haitians drink?

Beer consumption in Haiti is about 1.3 liters per person per year... compare that to 45 liters in the neighboring Dominican Republic... So... Why do Haitians drink so little beer? I think I have the answer...

It is NOT that Haitians do not drink, it is more like WHAT does the average Haitian drink?

Yon ti boutèy clairin tranpe (asowosi) vann 35 goud Hinche, 25 goud si-w konn kote pouw ashte-l... LOL...

Si objectif malere a se bwè pou li sou... L'ap bezwen anpil prestige pou-l ta fè sa... So li bwè ti kleren-l pito! ou konprann

Just read this...

The majority of Haitians cannot afford a bottle of Haiti's most famous export, Barbancourt, and as a result they will drink the very popular Clairin or moonshine.

Clairin is unique to Haiti and plays an important role in the culture of Haiti.
