Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez, the president-elect of El Salvador, visited the Dominican Republic recently to learn a thing or two from President Danilo Medina.
One of the main topics they discussed was the program for the promotion of tourism that the Dominican Republic has become so good at.
President Medina did share a few tips with President Bukele.
According to President Danilo Medina, the success of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic is linked to the construction new airports, allowing ease of travel for tourists.
Second is teaching the English language to local residents to allow for better communication. This alone has strengthened the community and has enhanced its development in the area of tourism, according to a Spanish newspaper.
If the president of El Salvador can come all the way from South America to the Dominican Republic to learn a thing or two about their flourishing tourism sector, there is no doubt that we Haitians, the next door neighbor, can pickup more than a few tips; that is if we can let go of our ego.
