Haiti Government announces NO TAX on Solar Panels and Alternative Energy Imports
The Haitian government announces NO TAX on solar panels and alternative energy imports. The government says it wants everyone Haitian citizen to have access to alternative energy.
Renewable Energy in Haiti - Green Energy
Jean Jorel Janvier, General Manager of the General Administration of Customs (AGD), made the announcement tuesday in a press conference at the Ministry of Communication: NO TAX the import of solar powered appliances.
Thus, according to Article 24 of the Finance Law 2017-2018, if I may borrow this sentence from Loop Haiti, the customs duty for the following goods is zero gourde:
- Solar Pump
- Solar pump parts
- Solar Refrigerators, household type
- Parts of other types of refrigerators
- Wind Power Generators
- Solar Generators
- Photovoltaic converters
- Solar batteries
- Portable Solar Lights
- Solar water heater
- Light-emitting diode (LED) lamps and tubes
- Solar panels (photovoltaic devices)
- Solar-powered lighting apparatus
I guess the Jovenel Moise government is really serious about using the sun (soley la) to energize Haiti...
What do you think about that?
