Haiti Violence: Guyler C. Delva roughed up at immigration in Port-au-Prince Tuesday

Haitian journalist and former communication minister Guyler C. Delva received a beating Tuesday at the direction of immigration and emigration in Port-au-Prince Tuesday after an altercation with a female immigration employee.

According to news reports, Guyler Delva was trying to help a friend obtain a passport, an identity document that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in Haiti, when the altercation began.

According to the former government minister, he took a picture of a employee who refused to help him and recused to give her name. According to the immigration employed, Guyler Delva was frustrated, took a photo, pushed the employee before overturning desks and computers at the bureau.

Despite the conflicting stories, what followed was Guyler Delva seen in a short video released on social media being pushed, kicked and beaten by what looked like security guards.
