KREYOL: Haiti - Inspecteurs L'armée Americaine yo explike poukisa PONT Route 9 la efondré... Pont an te fèt pou machin ki pa depase 30 tonnes traverser li, Chak jou, gwo camion bascule ak chay ki depase 40 tonnes tap traverse pont an... pat gen okenn maintenance ki te fet nan pont an tou... Kisa ou panse de sa???

According to an article by Le Nouvelliste, the bridge which designed for vehicles not surpassing 30 tons was being used daily by vehicles well over 40 tons.

The team concluded that frequent and unregulated crossings of the bridge by vehicles exceeding the regulatory weight limit have impacted the bridge and may have contributed to his failure.

The US inspectors also mentioned the fact that the is no record of inspection on the bridge in the 20 years since the US Army built it... The bridge was constructed in 1997...
