According to online Haitian newspaper, many US commercial banks have decided to cut ties with their correspondent banks in the Caribbean region due to stricter banking controls and the fear of heavy fines.

If a Haitian commercial bank loses a corresponding Bank of America, it will no longer be able to make transactions on the outside.
