According to newspaper Le Nouvelliste, Steve Colin becomes the first to contribute to the reconstruction of the national palace.

"What I did is a Haitian act to rebuild a Haitian symbol of both sovereignty and pride," said Stein Colin, according to a note from the Presidency's communications office.

"The idea of giving 10 thousand gourdes came to me from budget problems and the violent protests that have defaced the image of the country once again. Since there is a lack of resources, although I am not rich, I tried to give as much as I could because I did not want to give what was not important to me. It's an act from the heart, " Steve said.
