Everything you know, everything you believe is because you saw or heard it - No wonder Haiti is the poorest country, we hear it everyday!

I was watching a video on YouTube where comedian DL Hughley was giving his opinion about the Black Panther movie and it made me think about Haiti. DL Hughley said: "Everything you know, everything you believe, you know it or believe it because because you saw it or you heard it." Let me ask you a question: What have you seen or heard about Haiti all your life?

Food for Thought - As a Haitian Thinketh...

I don't want to sit here and write everything DL Hughley said, take minute to watch the video (below) but, while watching, I would like you to substitute "My Neighborhood" with Haiti.

Everything you know, everything you believe is because you saw or heard it.

The world reminds us everyday that Haiti is "the poorest country in the western hemisphere." Haitians, yes Haitians, we remind each other everyday that "Haiti pap janm chanje" (Haiti will never change.)

Each time someone comes along with a new narrative, other forces place Haiti and us Haitians right back into the hole.

Whether you like president Michel Martelly or not, he came out with "Haiti is open for business." I liked that idea and I was hoping it would bring about a change in attitude. But by the time Martelly had to leave office, the narrative changed. We went right back to Manifestation, tires burning, provisional government, Haiti will never change... you know, the same old, same old...

WE (the Haitians who actually want Haiti to change for the better) keep waiting to catch a wave, a wave that fast forward Haiti into the new world. But THEY (the Haitians who either don't know any better or don't give a shit because it is not in their own personal best interest) keep Haiti as is, a broken country with broken people, the poorest country in the western hemisphere.

That's what we know, that's what we believe because we see every day, because hear it every single day.

Tout ce que vous savez, tout ce que vous croyez est parce que vous l'avez vu ou entendu - Pas étonnant qu'Haiti soit le pays le plus pauvre, on l'entend tous les jours!
