School opens officially in Haiti today but NOT all students will be going

This Monday is the start of the shool year in Haiti. Ready or not, most parents did what they had to do to send their kids back to school but one parent says she is NOT ready.

"I still have not paid for the 'premiere tranche' (first portion) for my daughter's school," one parent told us. She only earns about 2000 gourdes per month. Her husband, an elderly mechanic, is unemployed.

That money has a lot to do in her life. She has to feed her unemployed husband, herself and her 3 children. She is also saving to buy 4 tin remaining sheets (4 fèy tòl) to finish covering her house. So paying for her daughter's education is not that simple.

She hopes her daughter will start school within the next couple of weeks but without some much needed help from a family member from the diaspora, she doesn't see how this is going to be possible.

Hmmm... What do you think about that?
