"Mirebalais tounen Grand Ravine," Mirebalais Haiti loses its reputation

"Se pa pa Mirebalais pou yo pase, kote y'ap rale manchèt sou moun lan?" One woman shouted out.

"Mirebalais a pa bon menm," another one said, "nenpòt ti krik ti krak, Mirebalais bloke."

"Mirebalais tounen Grand Ravine," the other replied.

"Yo bloke wout la epi y'ap ransone w, mande w lajan pou w ka travèse. Vreman, ou gen rezon, Mirebalais tounen Grand Ravine vre," the older woman said as she recalls the days when Mirebalais was a very clean and peaceful city where the public bus transporting her to the capital would make her stop so she and other passengers could freshen up.

"Pa gen bagay konsa ankò," a young teacher replied. "Mirebalais konye a se floup, floup! Kouri pase ale, kouri pase tounen!"

It is sad to be talking about a city like Mirebalais that way, another city fallen victim of political unrest in Haiti.
