Give Haiti a FISH, Teach Her NOTHING!

QUESTION: If you had BILLIONS of DOLLARS to give to Haiti, would you: A) Take the money and give it to the poor, feed them and give them shelter OR... B) Invest in the long term economic recovery of Haiti, create jobs so the poor people can work, feed themselves and provide their own shelter??? I am asking because...

Sometimes, I read articles about Haiti that suggests or hints, in an indirect kind of way, that a prosperous Haiti, filled with tourists, filled with businesses, a Haiti that is developing rapidly and successfully is almost contrary to the ordinary course of nature...

Don't you get the impression that most of the people who write about Haiti almost want the Haiti they are accustomed to? i.e. extremely poor and lacking the means to provide for itself?

Remember this proverb: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime?"

Why are so many people trying so hard to give Haiti a fish???

I think I may have answered my own question but give it a try anyway... Would you feed the poor with your BILLIONS in Haiti or would you provide them with the means to feed themselves?

I will do all of the above, and Haiti needs all of them. I will focus on vocational skills, agriculture, and tourism.

We need schools, clinics, clean water, and hospitals.
