Public safety in Haiti is not only the job of the Haitian Police, all citizens must be involved

whenever you notice something bad happening in your neighborhood and you chose not to alert the police either out of fear or because you don't think it's your business, is the police at fault for failure to keep you, your family and your neighbors safe?

In Haiti, everyone knows the National Police is weak and ill-equipped; it is no secret, but they also lack information that can help them do a better job, information that the general public knows but the majority of Haitians do not care to cooperate with he police.

In the United States, people are quick to dial 911 when they see something happening. In Haiti, shhhhhh... Se je wè, bouch pe!

Imagine that, a bad guy is terrorizing certain neighborhood in the capital. almost every Haitian citizen has a cell phone but no one is talking.

I believe it is Plato who said "courage is knowing what not to fear." If you are afraid to help the police fight the bad guys with information you can provide, you, your family and your neighbors will be living in fear for a very long time.
