Haitian Currency: GOUD vs DOLA There's a real Money Problem in Haiti!

When I look at the Haitian currency, it says "GOURDE", but since returning to Haiti I notice that Haitians refuse to talk count money in gourdes... Everything is DOLA... DOLA... Mezanmi... Haitien fè dola?

There is a teenager in the house. every time I want to buy something, he always tells me how much it cost in DOLA... Not GOUD...

I ask him: "Konbyen kòb yo vann ti bwat lè la?"

"Kat dola... (4 dollars / 20 gourdes)"

"Konbyen kòb yon boutey malta?"

"Senk dola... (5 dollars / 25 gourdes)"

He told me he has problems counting money in GOURDEs... He is not the only one who tells me that... So now I have to walk around with a danm calculator so that I know what everyone is talking about!

The money in my hands says GOURDE but every 'Ti Machann' in Haiti tells me how much things cost in DOLA...

It is no wonder that everything in Haiti goes up by "DOLA" increments... Instead of going up by ONE Gourde, it goes up by FIVE gourdes (Or YON DOLA) since that's what everybody is talking about.

GOUD!!!

Question: Are you more comfortable with GOUD or DOLA in Haiti?

It should not be up to the merchants nor the little man in the street to determine the price of commodities in the country.

The government should institute a price control to avoid trading chaos.

The exchange rate vis-a-vis the United States dollar and the Haitian gourde should be strictly

You only hit HALF the problem: Gen "Dola HT" epi gen "DOLA US".

Sometimes, if you're not used to it, you US dollars for something that is worth 7 times less (lol)! Se le sa bagay yo mele! Konye an, tout ti Ayisyen vle touche an DOLA US. Men

Bagay sa komanse depi le li te konn ekri sou kob an papye nou ke 5 gdes egal 1 dola US.
